Fisherman’s Paradise Stocking the Lake
With the size of this amazing lake and the quality of the water the fish stocks are interesting now, soon they will be stunning.
At present the lake stock species are-
- Sawaii
- Giant mekong delta
- The giant sawaiis (mix?)
- Red bellied pacus
- Tambacquis
- Arapaimas
- Rohu
- Striped Tiger barb

- Carp both normal and fancy
- Marbled Gobies
- Baramundi
- Nile Talapia
- Blotched Red Talapia
- Giant Gourami
- Clown Knifefish
- Gray Featherback
- Suckerfish (suckermouth catfish)
- Kraho Siamese Giant Carp
- Java Barbs
- ปลากา Black Shark
- Giant Snakehead
- Splendid Snakehead
- Striped Snakehead
- Walking Catfish
- Thai African Catfish (mix between Thai and African catifsh)
- Hi-fin Paroon
- Tapo
This is the stock that the lake has, but the numbers need to be higher for the fishing to be truly stunning. So management has decided to stock other interesting species, this is to give a balance to the lake and its fishing.
There are going to be some international anglers that will be wetting themselves at the thought of the release of 500,000 Five Hundred Thousand fish, over 200,000 Two Hundred Thousand of which are Carp.
Please note that this is only stage one!
Here is a list of the species that are planned for the first stage of stocking, some of these will be for breeding so this is also a seeding stage for the future stocking of the lake
- 200 Nile Perch for breeding will be amazing fishing in the years to come
- 2000 peacock Bass
- Arapaima 50 60cm (fast growth rate at this age), with 12 Big ones already in stock
- Hampala Barbs aka Jungle Perch
- Silver/green/Australian Arowanas
- Atlantic Tarpons (experimental)
- Tigerfish (experimental)
- Pacific Tarpon
The 4000 Barramundi have already been delivered and are doing nicely, these are being pen reared to increase growth rates and to de-crease death rate. This is the first batch of fish, with expected stocking of this species in stage two and three en mass.
With all this talk of fish I did hear a bit of inside information and some talk that, in the near future Dorado’s may also come and live and play in these waters, but we have to wait to hear more on that
Future stages of stocking the lake are also being planned with an in house breeding program to control stock in the main lake. So the fishing over the years is expected to exceed anything on this earth. With a proven track record of fish importation and breeding programs, the management of this project have serious plans for the long term stocking of this lake. This means that it will be some of the best fishing in the world for lures in the years to come.
