This is hunting, the slow movement at the lake edge, hours of studying the water studying the fish, then comes the movement, you cast your lure, checking the flight, the distance, when it falls where you want the heart quickens.

The slow actioned retrieval of your lure, your body alive waiting to feel the strike.
Then the water explodes there is that brief moment of fear that it hasn’t taken your lure then comes the hit, your whole body and mind alive with some primeval instinct.

With the bend in the rod the loading on the line, your mind does thousands of calculations of loadings, the pressure on the hook the angle of line, in my case the result to this was a first for me, with a nice Alligator Gar on lure, a rare thing in this world.

IT Monster lake is located about a 1 1/2 hours drive from Bangkok (so I am told as I slept both ways) it is basically west of Bangkok, good roads with a bus service from Bangkok, and for foreign travellers there are several flights to Thailand offered by various flight carriers on schedule everyday, the hotel where we stayed has good service and was clean and tidy, to top it off we even went down stairs and fished from the hotel steps as the hotel is located on the river! From there it is a 6km drive to IT Monster Lake.

Fishing in Thailand is set to be one of the best places for Lure Fishing in Asia, if not the world, with fantastic species like Arapaima, Arowina, Red tail Catfish, Alligator Gar and Pacu just to name a few.

This is a clean lake with no snags, the fish run jump and give fantastic shows, it is an L shaped lake and at the longest point it is 285 meters (310 yards) with clear banks and no snags. It can be fished with medium/light casting tackle as you have the ability to get away with only 150 meters of line so smaller reels can be used.

IT Monster Lake I feel provides great friendly service and a safe place for fishing gear, the food is Thai and of good standard. Best of all it is a clean modern place, with good clean modern toilet facilities. It is not a large scale set up but more of a modern Professional Family that has set up a Quality professional Predator Fishing Lake.
The people are really nice, though limited on English, in the world of fishing they are easy to understand when dealing with rigs and gear, you do not need a guide as the the fish is always unhooked for you for safety reasons (some have Big teeth) and help for tourist fishing is provided free of charge, I just loved my time there and I am looking forward to returning.

 but Fishing Alligator Gar on lure is just great, the Red Tail fight hard and the Pacu are good fun. This venue ranks very highly in my books, fishing is not just about the fish it is about the people and the place, I just love this venue.
